Intermittent Fasting for Beginners-Lose Weight

When I was on my weight loss journey I kept hearing about Intermittent Fasting. I wanted to try to shed the weight off as naturally as possible because I was breastfeeding. With that said, My baby weight did not come off that easy. It took a total of 6 Months to shed 40 lbs. I was so impatient that I started going back to the gym 3 weeks post partum… Darn Instagram models… I thought I was going to bounce back within a month and nope.

I started looking into Intermittent fasting and decided this was it, seemed reasonable so I gave it a try 4 months into my weight loss journey. My goal was to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight.

Common Fasting Methods

There are several fasting methods you can choose from so you can start with what is achievable for you. I Myself I do 16/8 which is eating within an 8 hour timeframe and then not eating for 16 hours. I do this from 10am-6pm which works very well with my schedule.

  • As I mentioned above, method The 16/8 is probably the easiest to start with. You can chose any 8hr window that work for you. That can be 12-8, 9-5, 1-9, etc…
  • The second is a 24hr Fast which you can do twice a week.

The point of these methods is your body gets used to burning stored fat instead of using the food energy you get from eating. Also, it’s a great way to practice managing your hunger. Studies show Intermittent Fasting can be a powerful weight-loss tool. This eating pattern can cause up to 8% weight loss between 3-24 weeks

Benefits Of Intermittent Fasting

  • Changes your HGH Levels which is human growth hormone which aids in fat loss and muscle gain
  • Boosts metabolism to lose belly fat
  • Levels of Insulin drop dramatically to make stored body fat more accessible
  • Helps you live longer-your body goes into fight or flight mode
  • Reduces the Risk Of Cancer- Making your cells more resilient

I believe this is a great lifestyle to practice, it may not be for everyone but it has proven to be super beneficial. With any weight loss goals keep in mind what you eat plays a big role. Focus on food quality, Fresh unprocessed and nutrient dense… Regular exercise is a must, whether you walk daily or hit the gym make sure you make it a habit. Start making small changes in your lifestyle and you will feel amazing in the long run.
