Annoying armpit fat that peeps its ugly plump in between your arm and your tank top is something a lot of us deal with. I, for sure, am guilty of trying to tuck away and hide unsightly armpit fat. There are ways to get rid of that pesky armpit fat and we are going to get to the bottom of it.
How to Reduce Fat From Armpits
Exercises in your workout routine can tighten up muscle groups around your armpit to help diminish the appearance of your underarm fat. Toning your underarm fat with strength training exercises is important throughout life and a positive benefit is you also look good in your tank top.
You can’t necessarily spot reduce a specific area but you can drastically reduce the appearance of unsightly armpit fat. Life is a lot better when you’re strong! Having upper body strength also helps with posture which is amazing for your overall body.
Nutrition is highly important in achieving fat reduction throughout your whole body. If you don’t change your diet, you can sabotage your entire workout routine. I’m not saying to change your lifestyle overnight but simply try to incorporate the 80/20 rule when it comes to nutrition.
Causes of Armpit Fat
Excess Fluid retention causes water to retain resulting in puffiness coming from the glands in the armpit. Toxin buildup will pool fluid in the upper arms and armpit area. One way to get rid of armpit fat is to cleanse the area daily using a massaging technique. It’s easiest to do in the shower, just lift one arm up and with the other hand, massage in a circular motion away from the heart. Then proceed to the other side.
Another reason could be that your undergarments are too tight. Investing in a bra that fits can make a world of difference. If the cup size or band is too tight, it will push everything up and accentuate fat.
Armpit Fat Workout
You are going to have to train with some sort of resistance routine to achieve the results you want. Smoothing out the armpit fat is going to take consistency but you’ll surely be proud of the outcome!
Jump Rope- A great way to warm up to prepare for your workout
Push Ups- Position your hands shoulder-width apart. As you bend your elbows and lower to the ground, your elbows should be at about a 45-degree angle to your body.
Tricep Dips- Position your hands shoulder-width apart on bench or end of couch if you’re at home. Slide your butt off of the bench with your legs extended in front of you. Slowly bend your elbows to lower your body toward the floor until your elbows are at about a 90-degree angle. Then straighten your elbows retiring to the start position.
Bicep Curl/Shoulder Press Combo- Start with your feet shoulder-width apart and arms by your side with your palms facing out. Bend your forearms until your hands or weights touch your shoulders. Make sure your elbows are kept by your side for this movement. Keeping your arms here, rotate your palms so that they’re facing forward. Push your arms over your head until both arms are extended straight above your body. Lower your shoulders away from your ears. Slowly lower your arms with your palms still facing forward until your palms are parallel with your shoulders. Turn your palms toward you and slowly lower your triceps, with your elbows firmly next to your torso, until your arms are completely hanging by your side.
Plank Rotation- Place yourself in plank position, hands on the ground beneath your shoulders. Straight body from head to toes. Tighten abs and glutes to hold up your body. Reach elbow up toward the sky and slowly twist the upper body back, look the same direction. Hold 1-3 seconds, return slowly, and repeat to the other side.
Try to do each exercise for 3 sets of 12.

Push-ups weren’t my strong suit either but I used modifications and I;m doing a lot better!
Ooh, that is good to know. I should probably try doing pushups against the wall sometime – I cannot do the regular kind since I had wrist surgery (my wrist doesn’t bend that way anymore and is also not super strong…)
