Having a Postpartum Belly Wrap in your Hospital Bag is a Must! I really believe that using a belly wrap after delivering my gorgeous Baby Girl absolutely helped me bounce back faster. I have always been keen on using them with my workouts since I can remember but to use them postpartum is definitely something I highly recommend!
What Happens to Your Belly Postpartum?
Postpartum is the period immediately after Mama gives birth to her baby and referred to the first 6 weeks following Childbirth. After birth, you will experience belly cramps as your uterus shrinks back to its regular size. Can you believe your uterus stretches nearly 500Xs its Pre-Pregnancy size! Weighing at about two pounds at Birth! Way to go Mama…
You will feel this cramping a lot more during your first few weeks of breastfeeding as your womb is contracting. You’ll also experience some swelling after birth, so drink lots of water, put your feet up, and rest that amazing body of yours.
Benefits of Using Belly Wraps Postpartum
- Compression and Support for Abdomen and Back while encourages blood flow, improving circulation and breathing
- It helps ease lower back pain while improving posture
- Helps to correct Diastasis Recti, a condition where your abdominal muscles separate during pregnancy
- Helps reduce swelling and fluid retention
- Stomach muscle memory- A reminder to tighten your core and perform abdominal bracing exercises
- Helps with Post-Contractions and helps the uterus return to its pre-pregnancy size
- Having support from belly wrap braces you from straining and any injury from having a weak core
- Gives the appearance of a flatter belly underneath your clothes, which can give you a confidence boost
How to Use a Postpartum Belly Wrap
I literally used it immediately after giving birth. You can start at least 2 Days Post-Delivery. If you’ve had a C-Section, please seek you doctors approval considering you have stiches to steer clear of.
Start by using it a couple of hours a day until you are comfortable enough to wear it up to 12 hours a day. Consider using it while you are most active during the day to achieve maximum benefits. I do not recommend sleeping with it on, you should let your body relax completely.
How to Choose a Postpartum Belly Wrap
- Make sure that your Postpartum Belly Wrap fits you properly and isn’t too restrictive- Any wrap that constricts to the point of being uncomfortable should be avoided
- Look for a Belly Wrap that’s adjustable and made of soft materials
- Read Reviews- I love to get feedback from postpartum mamas

I might just need this after baby comes in September 🤣
Yes, it’s definitely worth it! I’m due in July and already packed one in my bag.
Dang, I wish I would’ve had one of these after delivery! They look like they would help so much!
Glad I came across this post! I don’t have kids yet but soon and if you don’t have kids it’s easy not to know what you need! So I very much appreciate this post thanks for sharing 😄
Thank you for the positive feedback! I’m glad I can help!
Great post. I think belly wraps are essential for c-section recovery. I was so grateful to my wrap after my c-section. It allowed me to actually be able to stand and sit and not feel like my whole body is collapsing. I didn’t use my wrap as much after a vaginal delivery because my abs felt stronger but it still provided great back pain relief because of the support.
I got a traditional belly wrap for my first and never used it. I had no idea they were actually a thing in Canada too. I should have used it though.
They are beneficial in many ways!
I didn’t learn about belly wrapping until my fourth pregnancy. It was so helpful
great list. wish i had this a few months ago. will have to pass this on to my pregnant friends:)
Wow, I’ve never even heard of these before! I don’t have any kids, but if I do, this post will be so useful.
These could have been handy during my last pregnancy
A friend just introduced me to postpartum belly wraps. I wish I had these years ago! This is a great review
Thank you so much!
I wish I would’ve co side red one of these after giving birth. These seem helpful!
They really are! I use them after my first and I already have them packed in my hospital bag for my second!
This looks like something that could work but can I use it after a C – section?
Yes actually, I recommend getting drs approval first but Belly Bandit has a great wrap and something called a belly shield you can use underneath to prevent from rubbing!
I wish I had this tips before! Now I can recommend it to my sister who has just given birth to a baby boy 3 days back.
Congratulations to her! What a Blessing!!! Please do recommend, I really appreciate it.
